Pensando nisso, a empresa britânica Mothercare, especializada em produtos para gestantes e bebês, decidiu criar uma campanha celebrando a beleza real do corpo das mulheres após a gravidez.

Chamada de “Body Proud Mums”, algo como “mães orgulhas do corpo”, a campanha tem 10 fotos, cada uma mostrando uma mãe ao lado de seu bebê. As imagens são impactantes e não passaram por nenhum tipo de tratamento, mostrando a realidade das mulheres com cicatrizes, marcas e estrias.

“O coração da campanha é a crença de que todas as mães são bonitas. Afinal, seus corpos acabaram de realizar um milagre”, disse a empresa sobre as fotografias. E ela não passou despercebida já que apareceu em diversos outdoors e painéis em Londres.

Além disso, no site da campanha é possível ver o relato de cada mãe nas fotografias, contando um pouco mais sobre suas experiências emocionantes durante e após a gravidez. A modelo Tesha, que posou 26 semanas após o parto, disse que se assustou e ficou triste e envergonhada com a maneira que seu corpo mudou de repente.

“Eu estava arrasada e não sabia que ia me sentir dessa maneira. Agora, estou aprendendo que esta é uma nova eu. Minhas estrias não vão a lugar nenhum e nem minha cicatriz, elas são lembretes de que sem elas eu não teria meu filho. Eu posso perder o peso extra, mas por enquanto, estou muito ocupada brincando com o meu menino”, conta Tesha.

De acordo com uma pesquisa encomendada pela própria empresa, mais da metade das novas mães disseram que não conseguiam gostar do próprio corpo após a gravidez. A pesquisa também revelou que 80% das mães britânicas compararam seus corpos a imagens divulgadas por celebridades e pela mídia.

61% das entrevistadas acreditam que suas experiências pré-natal e pós-parto não são representadas de forma realista pela mídia, que ignora a importância de normalizar o corpo das mulheres após a gravidez.

“Todos os dias me sinto pressionada a voltar ao meu peso. A sociedade, as redes sociais, comentários de pessoas, tudo faz com que você se sinta assim. Em todas as redes sociais vemos esses corpos perfeitos dizendo que tiveram filhos e voltaram ao normal rapidamente. Eu mesma lembro que ficar surpresa quando a Kate Middleton saiu do hospital segurando o Príncipe George. Ela tinha uma barriga, e eu lembro de ficar surpresa que a barriga simplesmente não diminuía após o parto”, relata Tina, uma das mães na campanha.

As fotografias foram feitas por Sophie Mayanne, uma fotógrafa que não modifica digitalmente seu trabalho. “O objetivo é que mães de todos os tamanhos e tipos possam se identificar com essas fotografias de um jeito ou de outro, e se sintam mais confiantes com suas imperfeições”, contou Mayanne.
